Our Community Life

The vows, as the expression of our love of the Lord, are a unifying factor in a Marist community. Chastity frees the heart from every possessive form of affection and thus opens and energizes it for universal loving. Poverty puts all that we have and all that we are at the service of others. Obedience keeps the community oriented toward seeking and fulfilling the will of God. – Marist Constitutions article 50.

Our Community LifeWhen describing our community life, we like to say that what you see is what you get. We’re down to earth with a spirit of humility. Our life together involves prayer, hard work, humor and fun. We support each other through the ups and downs. We’re quietly proud of our “family” and are emboldened by the dynamic and living charism of our founder.

Our Community LifeA good portion of our day is spent in ministry, bringing the love of Jesus to youth. Whenever possible, we work and live together near our ministry sites, whether that is a Marist school, a parish, a college, retreat center or in settings of youth at risk. As Brothers, we live together in community, sharing all things in common, eating together, relaxing together and praying together. We pray together in community, but we also spend time each day in personal prayer.
