Br. Brice Byczynski entered the Marist Brothers Postulancy in 1967 and the Marist Brothers Novitiate in 1968. He professed his first vows on July 26, 1969. After completing a BA in English at DePaul University, he began his teaching career at in 1973.  He has served as a teacher, councilor and youth minister at many ministries including Marist High School in Chicago, Marist High School in Eugene, OR, the Kola Alternative School in Oglala, South Dakota, St. Agnes High School in NY, and Central Catholic in Lawrence, MA. He also served the Marist Brothers as Vocation Director and as the Province Archivist.

He earned an MEd in Religious Education from Boston College in 1975 and an MS in Special Education from University of Oregon in 1987. He professed his Final Vows in 1975.
