Community Leaders Meeting

Over 30 Brothers from around the USA gathered at the Province Center in Forest Hills on Saturday, October 13th for the annual Community Leaders Meeting and Workshop. The meeting began with Br. Patrick McNamara (USA Provincial) leading a reflective sharing on Community Life as experienced in each of the USA Marist communities as well as some reflections on how we as a Province are living the calls of the recent General Chapter Meeting and how we might embrace the vision of our own recent Province Chapter Meeting.

Mrs. Maureen Hagan and Mr. Matt Fallon from the Office of Life and Mission presented an overview and recap of last summer's first USA Lay Marist Assembly. They also invited all Brothers of the Province to join our Lay Marist colleagues at any of the programs offered during the year (such as Sharing Our Call, Embracing Our Call, etc).

Mr. Frank Pellegrino, CFO for the USA Province, reviewed a new Province Handbook for all Marist Brothers Employees as well as introduced the idea that all communities will utilize the Quickbooks program for their community accounts starting in 2019.

Br. Al Rivera shared some of the plans that he and his Co-Director of Vocations Br. Brian Poulin will bring to life through the Office of Marist Vocations. Br. Dan O'Riordan reviewed the New Province Policy on Social Media Usage with the Community Leaders and reminded them of our need to be constantly vigilant in protecting the safety and well-being of all young people entrusted to our care.

The meeting concluded with a mass celebrated by Fr. John Ulrich, SM, followed by dinner.
